TNA iMPACT! Play By Play 4/19/10
The TNA Champion AJ Styles comes out to start the live show. AJ told the fans to shut up, and due to his celebration party, Ric Flair will be a little late. What a sweet win it was! He proved that AJ Styles is the best pound for pound wrestler in the world. He said the Pope is one of the best wrestlers in the world, and AJ got the job done. Pope was good, but not good enough. He joined Jeff Jarrett, Sting, and Kurt Angle in guys who are no better than him. It doesn’t matter where, AJ is the best at everything. Rob Van Dam then came out (ugh). He was listening to AJ talk, and it seems like he thinks that he’s the best wrestler in TNA. Maybe he was before, but now things have changed. He knows that he’s upset because AJ was used to getting all the attention, but RVD has never been that impressed with him. How can he complain that he deserves the top spot over guys like RVD? Now Jeff Hardy came out (when will this sh!t end?). He said that AJ has a small head so be so big headed. Jeff Hardy is here to become TNA Champ. Hulk Hogan then came out (ruining the show even more). This is what Hogan’s talking about. This is why he brought these two guys in here. No matter how you cut it, it’s all about the title. It’s time for everybody to step up their game, because TNA is raising the bar. Being the champ makes you the best at what you do. Being champ opens doors. Being champ changed Hulk’s life. But when you’re the champ, there’s a target on your back. Hogan will cut the crap right now, and AJ Styles wanted to know how bad Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy wanted it. Can they put their friendship aside and see who’s the best tonight? After the match tonight, the winner will be #1 contender for AJ’s title. AJ said Hulk has to consult with the champ first, and he won’t be ready for Sacrifice. Hulk said he made the match, and he didn’t say anything about Sacrifice. The winner gets a shot tonight!
Daffney and ODB vs The Beautiful People (Knockouts Tag Title) Lacey was being the partner of Velvet tonight, and was doing very well. TBP controlled the beginning of the match, that is until Velvet missed a high risk move. TBP end up winning after Madison distracted the ref, and Lacey sprayed the perfume in ODB’s eyes.
Ric Flair was pissed off that AJ had to defend tonight, and demanded a rematch of Team Hogan vs Team Flair.
Abyss and Jeff Jarrett came out. Abyss said the war ended last night when Team Hogan kicked Team Flair’s ass. He also said that if Jeff and RVD weren’t already in a match, they would have no problem kicking their ass again. Team Flair went in and started beating Team Hogan down, but Rob Terry came out and took Team Flair out. Bischoff then came out and said he thought Flair learned his lesson last night. He said tonight there will be a rematch with Team Flair vs Abyss, Jarrett, Terry, and somebody else.
Matt Morgan came up to Shannon Moore asking him to team with him to defend the tag titles. TNA is forcing him to find a partner for next week’s defense against Team 3D, but Moore denied.
Hogan and Bischoff were talking about how both of them were doing great, and talking about tonight’s huge iMPACT!
Jeff Hardy vs Rob Van Dam The two competitors started off trading holds and running away. Jeff Hardy went for an early Twist of Fate, but RVD ran away again. They were fighting for a long time out of the ring, exchanging huge moves.RVD took control after a huge cross body. Hardy turned it around with a dropkick into Van Dam’s knee. After a clothesline, Hardy got a 2 count on Rob Van Dam. Jeff Hardy then got an insane rollup, but RVD kicked out. RVD kicked Hardy in the head, then got a huge flying kick to his head, knocking Jeff out of the ring. RVD hit a rolling splash, only to get a 2 count. Hardy went for his kick in the corner, but Rob Van Dam got out of the way. RVD hit a Split Leg Moonsault, but Hardy kicked out at 2. Hardy hit a front suplex, and went to the top rope, but Van Dam hit a spin kick to his head! Hardy fought back and missed with a Swanton! RVD then hit a 5-Star Frogsplash, winning the match. He is in bad shape though.
RVD and Jeff Hardy are still close as ever.
Team Hogan vs Team Flair Jarrett and Sting didn’t wait for the bell, with Sting destroying Jarrett before they got to the ring. He was beating Jarrett with a chair, then brought him up into the stands. Jarrett fought back with the fans behind him, knocking Sting down the stairs. Jarrett then beat Sting with a chair. This match hasn’t found its way to the ring yet. Sting reversed an Irish Whip attempt by Jarrett, throwing him into the wall. Jarrett was tossed over the barrier, then dropped on it by Sting. The match finally made its way to the ring. Jarrett tried to punch back, but Sting had the advantage. Sting missed a Stinger Splash, and that allowed Double J to take control. Both men were down as the clock ticked down to the time Desmond Wolfe came in. Sting tagged in Wolfe, who immediately went after the beat up Jarrett. Jarrett reversed Wolfe, and knocked him into the ropes. Wolfe then jabbed his thumb into Jarrett’s eye, giving him the edge. Jarrett reversed a Tower of London, and it was Terry’s turn to come in. He was tagged in, and brought the house down. Orlando Jordan then was standing on top of the ramp. Terry was destroying Wolfe and Sting. Abyss and Robert Roode are now in the ring after the commercial. Abyss was dominating Roode, hitting him with a choke slam. Abyss was absolutely on fire, but James Storm came in. This allowed Roode to get control and tag Storm in. After multiple knees by Storm, Abyss hit a side slam. Wolfe and Jarrett were tagged in, and Beer Money and Desmond Wolfe slowed him down, but didn’t take him out. Everyone is now down. SAMOA JOE!!! HE CAME IN AND BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN! HE TOOK EVERYONE OUT, except for those on his team of course! Joe hit a Muscle Buster on Roode, getting the win for Team Hogan. After Joe left with no celebration, Ric Flair came out.
Next week on iMPACT! Ric Flair will wrestle Abyss for both of the Hall of Fame rings!
Rob Van Dam vs AJ Stlyes (TNA World Championship) Styles started the match by throwing Rob Van Dam out of the ring, and hitting him with a suicide dive! AJ had control, targeting Van Dam’s leg. No matter how hard RVD fought, AJ had an answer. Rob Van Dam grazed AJ with a kick, then got all of a spin kick. AJ and RVD traded slaps and punches, but RVD won that battle, then following up with multiple clotheslines. Van Dam hit a Rolling Thunder, but that only resulted in a 2 count. Styles then locked in a Figure 4, but Van Dam got to the ropes. After a missed springboard by AJ, Rob Van Dam officially made TNA the worst wrestling promotion in the world by winning the championship.
