Former WWE Tag Team Champion Joey Mercury is set to return to the WWE.

The plan is for him to return to the SmackDown! brand, where his former tag team partner John Morrison currently wrestles. Mercury teamed with Morrison (back then as Johnny Nitro) and were managed by Melina, and found great success as a tag team.

Mercury was released in March of 2007, and worked on the independent scene for a while, but then retired in 2008, reportedly due to injuries.
